Best Smartphones under 15000

There are quite a good number of options if you are in the market looking for a new budget device. The sub 15K bracket is quite an interesting one as you get some powerful devices at a nice price tag. As the companies are on a strict budget to create the best device, most of these devices are focused towards a particular genre of users. Look at the Moto G, it will keep any average user happy but it lacks the option of expandable storage. Some other options compromise on built quality for cutting down on costs. So you need to find the device that hits the sweet spot and strikes just the perfect balance.

Here we list down some options for you to choose the Smartphones under 15000:

Moto G

How could we not mention this one? you can read our article why one should buy Moto G. This device stirred things up quite violently when it came out in the market. A mainstream manufacturer offering a quad-core device with the semi-HD display at this price! It was too good to be true. The device runs a Qualcomm chipset with the quad-core processor running at a maximum clock speed of 1.2 GHz. It comes with an Adreno 305 GPU and 1 GB of RAM. The device runs a new version of android at 4.4.2 KitKat and many devices around the globe are already receiving the 4.4.3 update.

Motorola has taken the simple approach here and kept the interface mostly stock except for a few additions. There is no senseless user interface like the Sense (pun intended) and it gets the stock android launcher. The result is a very fast device that doesn’t get laggy. The 4.5-inch semi-HD display is quite impressive as well. It replicates colours very well and is easily readable outdoors. It gets a ‘not so impressive’ 5-megapixel camera and a 1.3-megapixel front camera. In India, we get the dual SIM version and it is available in 8 and 16 GB storage options. We won’t recommend the 8 GB variant until you are picking it for your dad who would just use it to make calls and check emails.

Micromax Canvas Turbo

It used to be a rare occasion when Indian manufacturers would produce a device with good built quality. Now, however, things have changes and to go against the big ones, they produce well-built devices. The Canvas Turbo is one such example. It has an aluminium chassis and is very well built. If you can get over the ‘brand value’ thing in favour of better hardware, you can go for this device. It has got everything the Moto G has got, and then a lot more.
It comes with a similar price tag and for that, you get a 1080p display against the 720p. It is not only the display. The quad-core processor runs at a maximum clock speed of 1.5 GHz and it has got twice the amount of RAM at 2 GB. The camera resolution is much higher at 13 megapixels against just 5 megapixels on Moto G. the storage is 16 GB and just like the Moto G, you don’t get the option to add a micro SD card. The battery size is almost the same as Moto G so expect the life to be lower than the G.

Xolo Q1100

This is almost the Moto G with slightly bigger display and better camera. It looks quite good and performs very well. It has got a 5-inch semi-HD display which is crisp and replicates colours well. The Snapdragon 400 chipset is just as good as in the Moto G. the quad-core processor runs at a clock speed of 1.4 GHz. The Adreno 305 GPU works well and it comes with 1 GB of RAM.

There is another difference that we failed to mention earlier. The device comes with 8 GB of internal storage but has also got a micro SD card slot. It comes with Android 4.3 Jelly Bean operating system. It has got a better camera as compared to G. the primary camera has a resolution of 8 megapixels and the secondary camera has got the 2-megapixel sensor.

Karbonn Titanium X

It was hard for us to decide if we should list the Titanium X here or the Titanium Octane. The Octane looks better and has got an octa-core processor but we have a thing for full HD displays and you get that on the Titanium X. it has got a 5 inch full HD IPS display which is very impressive. It runs a MediaTek chipset with a quad-core processor. The processor has a maximum clock speed of 1.5 GHz and graphics are handled by a PowerVR GPU.
It has got 1 GB of RAM which is decent but might not suffice at times. You get 16 GB of internal storage out of which you get almost 13 GB of usable space. It has got a 13-megapixel primary camera. The camera is fast at focussing and capturing. The images shot in daylight are quite good though the quality starts to drop with the drop in intensity of light. Even the secondary camera has a high resolution of 5 megapixels.

It comes with Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean which is dated now. They might update the device to a newer version soon. It is powered by a 2300 mAh battery which would give you a day of battery life on mild usage. It is priced just below 15K which makes it a good value for money. You get a pretty good hardware for what you pay.

Conclusion:

These devices all offer you a great package for the price. We would still vote for the Moto G as one of the best smartphones under 15000 but it is all about priorities. You can choose some other device for this price if you need a powerful hardware or better display. The Titanium X and Canvas Turbo offer the 1080p display for the price which is something rare in this category. If you like to watch a lot of videos on your device, you might want to look at one of these.
